TIMESHARE
Work at UNWTO
How is Timeshare covered in UN Economic Product & Activity Classification Codes?
- IH&RA participates in the work of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Committee on Statistics & Macro-Economic Analysis of Tourism in charge of the follow-up to the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) work.
- This work revealed the need to revise and in some cases expand the current macro-economic classification of the hotel & restaurant sectors used in the United Nations’ Central Product Classification (CPC) and International Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (ISIC). These two classifications codes are fundamental to the UN System of National Accounts (SNA) used by governments around the world to track national economic performance.
- Both CPC and ISIC are now being revised with a view to their approval by the UN Statistics Committee (UNSC) and implementation in 2007. Drafts for these revised classifications were presented to UNSC in 2005, prior to translation and publication in 2007.
