IH&RA, recognized by the United Nations as the “voice” of hospitality, is the only global trade association exclusively representing the hotel and restaurant industry worldwide. This year, we were pleased to celebrate the association’s 60th Anniversary - made possible thanks to valued members like you. In 2006, IH&RA:

• Served as the global hospitality industry advocate before international policy-making agencies;

• Joined Forces with the UN World Tourism Organization to Deliver Comprehensive Hospitality Industry Statistics;

• Welcomed new members aboard;

• Published IH&RA “Industry Guidelines to Protect Travel Industry Integrity on the Internet;”

• Launched IH&RA Guidelines and Best Practices for Security, Crisis and Risk Management and Prevention – Now Underway;

• Became a founding member of the Tourism Emergency Response Network (TERN), set up by the UNWTO, the United Nations World Tourism Organization, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO);

• Enhanced the “voice” for hospitality around the world thanks to increased strategic partnerships with hospitality industry media and partner tourism associations.

At the Annual General Assembly held in Nice, France 27-28 October 2006, a new Board of Directors was elected, led by IH&RA President Ghassan Aïdi. We all are committed to strengthening the role of IH&RA as the hospitality industry’s only global trade association - one that is powerful and prestigious.
