Underway: Oxford Brookes University to Support IH&RA Guidelines for Security, Crisis & Risk Management & Prevention

The Department of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Management of Oxford Brookes University's Business School, represented by Alexandros Paraskevas, will work with IH&RA to produce hospitality industry guidelines for crisis and risk prevention and management. The IH&RA Global Council on Security, Safety and Crisis Management was formed to address safety & security issues in the hospitality and restaurant industry. The Council, which is supporting this project, has been very active since its inception in year 2005, meeting regularly by teleconference and once in person in December 2005. The forthcoming guidelines will strive to raise the bar on crisis and risk management in the industry at large while also allowing independent properties or those with more restricted resources to benefit from the expertise of the major international hotel companies, many of which are involved in the project. Target publication date: December 2007
