Created by the NRAEF's International Food Safety Council, this month-long campaign focuses on the importance of food safety education and strategies for implementing and reinforcing safe practices on the job. This year's theme is "Don't Compromise -- Clean and Sanitize." Free materials for participation are available for download on the Web site www.nraef.org/nfsem.

Support IH&RA Position in Tunis - Say NO to Proposed ISO Standards for Hotel & Restaurant Services

Paris , 20 March 2006… There is a critical issue being decided next week in Tunis at a meeting of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that will directly impact the business and bottom line of all hotels and restaurants worldwide. At the instigation of its Consumer Policy Committee COPOLCO, ISO is proposing to set up international standards for tourism services – including standards for hotels and restaurants. This issue will be debated at the first meeting of ISO Technical Committee 228 taking place in Tunis, Tunisia 27-28 March 2006, under the joint chairmanship of the Spanish Standards Organisation AENOR and its Tunisian counterpart INORPI.

Paris, 17 March 2006…David McMillan, CEO of IH&RA, the International Hotel & Restaurant Association, received an Honorary Membership in the Cornell Hotel Society (CHS) at an Awards Ceremony attended by CHS European members held alongside ITB Berlin on Friday, 10 March at the Maritim Hotel Berlin.

Berlin, 09 March 2006 To toast to six decades as the only global business organization representing the hospitality industry worldwide, IH&RA hosted gala evening events in Berlin, Germany on March 08, 2006 the final night of the International Hotel Investment Forum, Europe's premier investment conference which runs March 06-08, and the first evening of ITB Berlin, March 08-12. IH&RA kicked off the evening of 08 March with an elegant reception at the spectacular brand new Maritim Hotel Berlin sponsored by Maritim Hotels and the German Hotels Association (IHA), followed by an exclusive invitation-only dinner sponsored by BBC World.
