IH&RA CONDEMN ATTACK ON KABUL HOTEL
Lausanne, June 29.2011,
Once again, our Hospitality Industry is facing An Terrorism attack against a Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan. This major independent Hotel former associate to an International Chain has been attacked by Terrorism yesterday night, where all insurgents were killed by the Government and NATO-led coalition with at least 10 civilians casualties from the Hotel.
Latest Report mention that all guest are safe. "we need always to be vigilant and everywhere" say Dr. Ghassan AIDI, IHRA President, "We are always under Attack, we need to protect our Assets and our guests and employees, we cannot ignore a fact that this is a disaster like any other natural disaster and we need to modify our culture in Security and Safety, We need to ask ourselves IS RISK MANAGEMENT RELEVANT FOR OUR HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY, we need to have our own set of security measures to mitigate the threats .
IHRA remind all their members that they have issued several plans for security and risk management and they need always to stay vigilant.
As Terrorism knows no boundaries or limit. Many events around the World have highlighted risk management will play a very important and essential role in Hotels daily operations. Hoteliers without any Risk management policy are unable to determine with efficiency which critical assets are exposed to potential terrorism attack.
IHRA remind their members that US Department of Homeland Security in USA did develop with our Hospitality Industry a campaign called "IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING" to develop awareness and essential knowledge for all Hotel employees to recognize, report and react to any suspicious situations at the Hotel.
