HOTEL ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION NETWORK ASSOCIATION - HEDNA
The Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association (HEDNA) is a not-for-profit trade association intended to stimulate hotel bookings through the use of Global Distribution Systems (GDSs), the Internet and other electronic means.
Mission

The mission of HEDNA is to increase hotel industry revenues and profitability from electronic distribution channels and to be the foremost travel industry association advancing hotel electronic distribution. This will be done by:
- Optimizing the use of current technology
- Influencing development of current and emerging electronic distribution channels
- Education
- Providing an opportunity for open exchange among members
Membership HEDNA’s worldwide membership includes over 200 of the most influential companies in the hotel distribution industry
Membership in HEDNA is open to any entity or individual whose actions, goals and purposes are consistent with the mission of the organization. There are three types of members: Principal, Allied and Fellowship.
Structure Board HEDNA's officers consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, who together with eight elected members and one invited member, compose the Board of Directors. The Executive Director, who is responsible for HEDNA staff, is an ex-officio member of the board.
Fields of activity To achieve its mission HEDNA relies strongly on the commitment and support of member volunteers. These volunteers generously invest their time and share their expertise by participating in HEDNA committees:
Standards Committee
This group influences industry members and organizations on the development and adoption of approved standards and industry best business practices that promote increased electronic distribution of and for hotels. They:
- Identify need for industry standards in the areas of interface, databases and privacy.
- Communicate effectively to Influence promotion and adoption of approved standard.
- Educate membership on established standards.
- Act as sounding board for membership.
- Re-evaluate outdated industry standards.
Distribution Management Committee
This group consists of hoteliers, agents and IDS working to address and enhance technical, marketing and standards issues relevant to hotel distribution via the Internet. Their mission is to address distribution issues and enhancements brought forth by principal members or their customers, addressing all market segments through Internet distribution sales. They:
- Span Internet bookings and connectivity through all channels direct to the PMS.
- Identify industry specific needs and relay them to the relevant committee(s) to address and resolve based on approval from the collaborative committee.
- Identify any standards required through IDS and pass information onto the standards committee to resolve.
- Work to identify system limitations or enhancements required and monitor the progress to resolve them.
- Actively work with the IDS to educate HEDNA members on this distribution channel and benefits to hotels.
- Identify, address, and discuss industry working practices.
- List all IDS selling hotel space in a directory.
Relationship with IH&RA A number of IH&RA members are also members of HEDNA. Official liaison has been established between IH&RA Global Council on E-Marketing & E-Distribution and HEDNA to ensure close industry cooperation and avoid duplication of work.
