INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF HOSPITALITY CONSULTANTS - ISHC

ISHC is a professional society of leading consultants in the hospitality industry.

Mission
The Society was founded in recognition of the public need for competent, unbiased advice, professional guidance and sound judgement on hospitality industry issues.

Members
Membership is by invitation only. The Society selects its members from leading consultants who have demonstrated their integrity and are qualified by their experience, training and knowledge to develop and express sound judgement on hospitality industry issues. Members are highly experienced, professional consultants offering expertise to hotels, restaurants, clubs, and travel related businesses in a wide range of disciplines.

 Background
A group of 19 hospitality industry consultants was invited to meet at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee, in October, 1988, to discuss consulting, practice management, and the future of their businesses. That meeting resulted in the concept of the ISHC and was followed by an organizational meeting at the Newporter Resort, Newport Beach, California, in March 1989. The Society incorporated as a not-for-profit organization and accepted By-laws, a Mission Statement and a Code of Professional Conduct. Since that time the Society has grown to a membership of 150 with 20% of its members residing outside the United States.

By recognizing consulting as a profession, and organizing the collective knowledge and experience of consultants, the Society enhances the quality of consulting services to the industry.

 ISHC Pioneer Award
In 1996 the ISHC initiated this award to recognize an individual or organization who has advanced the hospitality industry by making an outstanding contribution, achievement and/or improvement. This individual or organization is actively involved in one or more dimensions of the industry which benefits developers, investors, operators, and guests. The award recipient possesses certain attributes and adheres to professional standards which are recognized and respected throughout the industry including integrity, ethics, sound judgement, outstanding leadership and a commitment to quality service and professionalism.
